Unique Challenges of Managing the Generation Y Workforce – Free Webinar – October 2009

Generation Y workers, defined as those individuals born between 1977 and 1995, are an increasing part of our workforce.  Attorneys from Fisher & Phillips are offering a free webinar to discuss how Human Resources professionals can manage these younger employees. This  generation presents challenges to HR based partly on their desire for autonomy, flexibility, recognition and the opportunity to balance work and family. Their increased technological sophistication requires employers to set polices covering the use of workplace computers, the use of social networking sites as related to work, and the use of workplace email systems.

New issues regarding at-will employment status, harassment prevention and intellectual property protection have recently arisen due to the hiring, management and termination of Generation Y workers. Recognizing these unique challenges and the current economic climate, a heightened emphasis must be placed on preventive measures that will reduce risk and strengthen your Company should it need to assert or defend its interests in litigation. This presentation will provide an overview of Generation Y's impact in the workplace, how to avoid and respond to legal challenges posed by management of Generation Y workers, and a discussion of the impact that social networking sites have on Human Resources administration.
