Joe Shelton is a partner in the Atlanta office. His practice focuses on the defense of employment discrimination claims in trial and appellate courts, as well as counseling and litigation in the area of trade secrets, non-competition agreements and restrictive covenants. Joe also frequently advises employers with all aspects of state and federal employment laws, assists employers in drafting employment agreements, restrictive covenants, personnel policies, separation agreements, and releases, and conducts on-site training on topics such as employment law compliance and avoidance of harassment claims. The clients with whom Joe works cover a broad range of businesses and industries, including grocery, manufacturing, automotive, retail, restaurant, service, real estate, staffing, financial, higher education, and medical. Joe is "AV" Peer Review Rated by Martindale-Hubbell and was selected for inclusion in Georgia Super Lawyers – Rising Stars in 2005 and 2009.

Community Involvement

Joe is active in a number of activities within the community. He has served on the Board of Directors for the National Alumni Association at Oglethorpe University for a number of years and currently serves as the President of the National Alumni Association and a member of the University's Board of Trustees. Joe and his family are members of The Church of the Apostles where Joe participates in the drama team for the elementary school children. Joe is also active in his wife's non-profit prison ministry, HeartBound Ministries, having previously served on the Board of Directors.
