Edward Rawl practices in the Columbia office.

Edward’s national employment practice includes advising and counseling employers and litigating employment-related disputes involving wrongful discharge, Title VII, ADA, ADEA, FMLA, FLSA, OSHA, the Surface Transportation Assistance Act, as well as other types of employment, benefits, and contract based claims. He represents clients in various industries, including retail, manufacturing, transportation and logistics, healthcare, technology, agriculture, housing, finance/banking, construction, and national defense.

Edward also has a niche practice representing lenders, developers, property managers, and owners of conventional and government-financed and assisted multifamily housing projects in the defense of fair lending, fair housing and public accommodation claims.

Edward handles litigation in federal and state courts and claims pending with state and federal agencies including the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, U.S. Department of Justice, and the U.S. Department of Labor, including the defense of nationwide wage and hour investigations.

Edward has appeared before state and federal tribunals in Alabama, Florida, Georgia , Indiana, Kansas, Louisiana, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, and Virginia. He has also appeared before the South Carolina Supreme Court, South Carolina Court of Appeals, and Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals.

Edward is "AV" Peer Review Rated by Martindale-Hubbell. He has been repeatedly selected as one of the Midlands' Legal Elite by the Greater Columbia Business Journal Monthly Magazine, and selected for inclusion in South Carolina Super Lawyers – Rising Stars since 2012. Edward was the recipient of the 2011-2012 and 2013-2014 South Carolina Bar Young Lawyers Division President's Medal, which recognizes young lawyers who have gone above and beyond in their dedication and service to the Young Lawyers Division. He was selected as Star of the Quarter in 2014 by the South Carolina Bar Association Young Lawyers Division.

Edward was appointed by ABA Presidents Laurel Bellows and William Hubbard to serve on the twenty member ABA Gender Equity Task Force, which addresses the continuing gender equity issues that exist in the legal profession and in society at large. He also serves on the ABA Commission on Women in the Profession: Resolution and Legislative Affairs Committee. Edward actively serves on the Advisory Board of Fisher & Phillips’ Women’s Initiative and Leadership Council (WILC).

Edward serves as the Membership Director of the ABA Young Lawyers Division, placing him on the ABA YLD Senior Leadership Team, Cabinet and Member of the ABA YLD Council. He also serves as the YLD’s Liaison to the Standing Committee on Membership (SCOM), which oversees the ABA’s Marketing Department and its efforts to fulfill the ABA’s membership goals. Edward previously served as the ABA YLD’s Vice Director of Membership, Member Service Project Coordinator, and District 10 Representative for South Carolina and U.S. Virgin Islands, also serving on its five member Finance Board.

Edward is also active in the South Carolina Bar Association, currently serving as Secretary of the Employment and Labor Law Section, member of the Judicial Qualifications Committee, member of the Future of the Profession Committee, and Co-Chair of the YLD’s Community Law Week Project. He formerly served as Chair of the YLD’s Courthouse Keys Committee and Co-Chair of the Professional Development Committee.
