Fisher & Phillips Attorneys Win Jury Verdict in Oregon

Portland, Oregon, attorneys Tamsen Leachman and Elizabeth Bonucci obtained a complete defense verdict for a client in a case in which a plaintiff brought several charges against her former employer. It took the jury only about 90 minutes to rule for our client in Robinson v. Legacy Health, et al

The plaintiff, a former employee, claimed she reported concerns both internally and externally regarding various procedures. She also invoked Oregon Family Leave Act (OFLA) leave throughout her employment. Despite making plans to leave the organization, the plaintiff alleged she was tricked into resigning because of her protected medical leave and her “whistleblowing” activities.

The jury considered and rejected several claims - OFLA interference, discrimination and retaliation, several whistleblowing claims, fraudulent inducement, promissory estoppel and wrongful discharge – returning a complete defense verdict.
